Who Can Resist String Cheese?

Who can resist cheese? The taste they leave in our mouths is one that is truly to be savored. The sumptuous flavor they provide is most definitely unique. And cheese has long been heralded as one of life's most prized delicacies.

It's no wonder why many people enjoy their cheese as they are, not as supplements for dishes, not as additives for other food, and not as mere dips or dressings for their meals. They'd rather enjoy their cheese as a meal in itself, or as a snack food so to speak. Often, people prepare some slices of cheese and enjoy them as they are.

String cheese refers to cheese products that do not really require special processing. Rather, string cheese refers to the shape of certain cheese products. Indeed, these cheese products are shaped as strings - relatively large strings which people can pull out of the packaging and directly enjoy. No need for slicing. No need for special wrapping techniques. And no need for extra preparations.

String cheese often comes in pieces of 6 inches in length and 1 inch in diameter. This serving is considered large enough for a light snack. People often carry a pack of this cheese type for picnics, movie dates, and even for recess breaks during the workdays.

Such a cheese presentation is often made of Mozzarella cheese. Given the Mozzarella cheese's distinct hardness, it is easier to mold and package. There is no danger for such strings to melt or be disfigured during shipping. But strings do come in other varieties as well, though stricter preservation methods are strongly recommended. Such methods include refrigeration before consumption, temperature control and observance of a shorter expiration date.

Since the edible cycle of the string cheese has to be preserved for as long as possible, it has a rather high salt content. Hence, large consumption of the same is not really suggested, especially for those in a low sodium diet.

These strings come in many flavor in this day and age. Some of them possess a garlic flavor, while others boast of a sour crème and onion taste. There are even fanciful flavors like barbecue, fruits and even bubblegum.

Children, however, have become the primary market for these dairy strings. Though no one can resist cheese, children cannot resist the natural presentation of these strings. This may be an excellent development, given the fact that cheese is made from milk, hence, can provide the calcium required for the optimal growth of the younger generation.
