ahhh, it feels so good to be back on a normal eating schedule.
I woke up just before 8am to my mom’s voice and a craving for cereal!
{kashi go lean crunch with strawberries, soymilk and coffee}
I ran out to the store last night and stocked up on a few essentials and I was definitely glad I did when I woke up this morning!
I haven’t had cereal in a while (I go through phases with it) but I got this one on a whim (figured it’d act as a good yogurt mix-in as well) and I was so happy that I could have it to quell my craving.
I have to admit, after my crazy travel day yesterday I was a bit of a bum today…it felt so nice just to relax!
Shortly before lunch I decided to head out for a walk around the neighborhood…
I’ve ran/walked/biked around this neighborhood more times than I can count and for the first time in my life, I found myself incredibly nervous to do it. But I decided giving into that fear would be letting those people win – and I didn’t want that. So I braved it and I made it okay. It’s such a strange feeling to feel unsafe here…it’s nothing I’ve ever felt in my whole life while here.
When I got home I was pretty hungry so while I had planned a quick yoga session, I post-poned it until after my lunch –
{turkey sandwich on whole wheat with lettuce, mustard, baby carrots and a pear on the side}
This lunch hit the spot after my luna bar yesterday! And it powered me through an amazing 20 minutes of yoga.
My mom came home for a minute to pick something up before running out so I chatted with her and then got sucked into a couple other things around the house. Before I knew it, I was craving a little something more to eat so I went with one of my favorite snacks:
{kashi waffle with peanut butter and chocolate chips}
I kinda consider this snack like a homemade energy bar…it’s SO good. If you’ve never tried, you definitely should.
After my snack I got sucked into Pinterest and saw this article which I thought was really interesting:
Nutrition Face-off: Coconut Oil vs. Olive Oil
For dinner I pulled a few goodies out of the freezer and made up a quick salad to go on the side –
{trader joe’s sausageless sausage, alexia sweet potato fries and a side salad}
Delicious.
I know I’ve said this a million times before…but trader joe’s meatless offerings are amazing. some of the best I’ve ever had, hands down.
Now it’s time to curl up, hang out with mom and get a few more christmas movies under my belt…or just stare at this beauty:
It’s so good to be home.

It’s okay to be a bum and relax sometimes because sometimes, that’s just what we need. And I love Kashi Go Lean – both on it’s own and in yogurt. Good choice! 🙂

Funny, I go through cereal phases too and I had the exact same breakfast (practically) yesterday. Nothing like a bowl of cereal with strawberries. 🙂 Glad you are having a peaceful time at home.

I completely agree. And haha I know – I thought it was so funny when I saw your breakfast! Great minds think alike 🙂 And thank you!

Okay – I promise I’m not a creeper but I live in Newtown and I swear that looks like my neighborhood. What street do you live on?!
Cait says
This street was Bridge End Farm 🙂

New to your blog. How long are you home for? Are you on holiday from work or school? (not sure of your vocation). I’m home too…but its not good…I might be here for a few months and its a hole in the middle of nowhere. No sidewalks, no gym. And only one grocery store with little availability. I normally eat a lot of meat and chicken and am lost now since none of it is is the “antibiotic free” kind…not sure what to do 🙁
I use both olive and coconut oil a lot. Do you buy organic yogurt only? What about eggs, etc? THANKS for any feedback. I hope this comment goes to my inbox (?) .

Welcome to the blog! I’m sorry you’re struggling at home…hopefully the more time you spend there the better it will get…there is always the option for a quick workout right in your living room! As for the type of food I buy – I try to buy organic when I can, but if I can’t, I don’t stress about it. Just do what you can!!
