Breaking Up the Bliss

August 8, 2009 · 4 Comments

Sooo here’s how my morning started -

Ahh Saturdays. There are few things I love more than Saturday mornings. You have the whole weekend ahead of you and nothing to do, nowhere to…OH CRAP! I have an eye appointment that I’m supposed to be at!!

Luckily I remembered in just enough time to walk there but whew! If that’s not a way to wake up I’m not sure what is!

Before my realization I was able to blissfully enjoy an awesome breakfast of an Amazing Grass GREENSuperFood bar + the last of my vanilla Oikos

I love these bars. So greeny and delicious - you can practically feel the health benefits as you chew

Plus the iced coffee that Mike was kind enough to bring over for me -

What a guy

Speaking of Mike I’m off to watch his baseball game so lunch will be up a bit later than usual!

Hope it’s as beautiful a day where you all are!

Beat with a Captial B!

August 6, 2009 · 5 Comments

Hey guys!

Just a quick wrap up tonight because I’m totally beat!

Afternoon snacks included a delicious chocolate flavored GREENSuperFood bar

And a grande iced soy mocha from Money Sucker Starbucks to keep with the chocolate theme

Dinner was out with Mike’s family at Quay’s -

There was yummy bread upon sitting down -

I snagged one o’ these guys with some buttah.

Per usual Mike ordered the fried calamari which I of course grabbed a couple of

They were light and crispy, just the way fried calamari should be!

My entree was a chicken caesar salad, dressing on the side -

It was G double-o D!

Great food and amazing company – an awesome night all together as always!

I really wanted some ice cream for dessert since I missed out last night but Mike blew right past it on the walk home which I took as a hint that he was not up for going.

Oh well, saved me some money I guess!

Night everyone! TGTIF!!!

Going Green with Grass

July 30, 2009 · 21 Comments

Morning everyone!

I’m all thrown off from the traveling – yesterday seriously felt like a bizarre dream! And to add insult to injury, I keep thinking it’s Monday because it’s the first day of my work week!

Anyway, the one good thing about last night was that when I walked in my door I had an box full of awesome goodies waiting for me from Teri at Amazing Grass!

This put a serious smile on my face guys!  I CANNOT WAIT to try everything out.  Most of all the Amazing Meals though.  I just know I’m going to love them given how much I adore the SuperFood packs!

But the thing that REALLY made me grin from ear to ear?

MY VERY OWN AMAZING GRASS SHAKER!!  This baby is AWEsome!

For breakfast I broke right into my stash!

I started with a Chocolate Whole Food Energy Bar -

And paired it with an original SuperFood packet with a scoop of wheatgrass

I love, love, LOVE this shaker!!  It’s so convenient and it really locks everything in so I can get a good shakin’ in to mix it all up

As for the SuperFood bar

HOLY GOODness!!  Guys, seriously go out and buy these babies as soon as possible!  (Or just click the picture on the side of my page and it will bring your right to their online store )

This had the most wonderful chocolatey flavor!  I was a little worried at first that it might be a bit chalky like some other bars but I was WAY wrong on that one!  I loved the texture of this bar and there was no yucky residue left in my mouth after each bite.

I also adored the nuts and seeds that were dispersed throughout the bar as well.  Each bite was a little chewy, a little crunchy and a WHOLE LOT of AMAZING!

Thanks so much Teri!  I can’t wait to try the others!!

Off to work!  See you all for lunch

Bringing Out My Inner Kid, One Sip at a Time

July 20, 2009 · 22 Comments

Hoppy Monday!

100_3968

I had a very GREEN start to my day thanks to my good friend, Mr. Frog.

Yes, I’m pretty certain that my 2 and a half year old niece has this same cup – but it was so cute I couldn’t resist Plus it’s the perfect thing for my GREEN MONSTERS! (Especially when I make them with the Kidz flavor )

I whipped one up this morning with 1 cup of light soymilk + ice + 1 scoop of wheatgrass + 1 packet of Kidz Outrageous Chocolate -

100_3973

Okay, I promise his photo shoot is done.

To accompany my GM I added a Kashi Go Lean Original 7 Grain waffle -

100_3970

And a plumy plum -

100_3972

A great start to my Monday morning Who knew going green could be so yummy??

100_3975

I added a little smart balance and sugar-free syrup to my waffle before I ate it. Speaking of Kashi waffles – has anyone tried the new Strawberry Flax??  I haven’t seen this anywhere around me yet, but YUM!  I bet these are delicious!

Make sure to check out Angela and Caitlin’s awesome athletic accomplishments this weekend!  Both participated in and completed races with AMAZING times!  Makes me really want to sign up for that half-marathon now!!  Hmmm…

Question of the Day:

What are YOUR upcoming athletic goals?

Exciting Things Part II

July 17, 2009 · 6 Comments

It was an exciting morning!  First I found out that I won the @larabar contest which means I’m getting a shipment of the brand new flavor: Tropical Fruit Tart before it hits stores!  So happy!!

Then I managed to update my template to one that I think works a little better (still some kinks to work out so bear with me).

Let me know what you guys think!

And finally, I was approved as an official affiliate of Amazing Grass!  Angela would be so proud!

Check out my favorite products listed under “GREEN is the new BLACK!

Lunch however, was not quite as exhilarating as the rest of my morning – just a plain old packed one today…gotta use up those groceries!

I stuffed a whole wheat pita with an Amy’s Veggie Burger, mixed greens and mustard that I paired with a bunch of yummy sides:

100_3821

Sorry for the ugly tinfoil – my pita immediately fell apart upon picking it up.  What is with that lately!?

100_3820

I promise there’s an Amy’s Veggie Burger in there somewhere!

The first side was some yummus hummus with psychedelically orange baby carrots for dipping:

100_3817

Then a black plum

100_3813

I guess it’s the day of uniquely colored fruit!   You should’ve seen the inside of this guys – it was a beautiful deep red…definitely going to be picking up more of these!

100_3814

And upon remembering I had them still from our Taco Night, I added some FoodShouldTasteGood Multigrain chips:

100_3824

I’m already in my running clothes and getting ready to go out for a nice jog on this beautiful Friday afternoon.  Thanks again for all the training tips people, it was so helpful!

-

I think we’re going to see HARRY POTTER TONIGHT!  I can’t wait!!

-

See you for din-din

Happy Fourth of July!!

July 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE!!

I hope you all have exciting plans today and some fireworks in your future later tonight!

Today has been a fun and exciting day so far – Mike and I have been all over both New York and Hoboken!  The first thing we set out to do though was drop my computer off at the MAC store!  It’s not looking good guys.  They had to keep it over night for observation but a full recovery does not seem favorable.  SO SAD!

I’m thinking I may just have to bite the bullet and get a new one.  If anyone has any suggestions for good yet affordable laptop, PLEASE SHARE!

Knowing we had a long day of walking ahead of us I decided to start it off with an energizing Green Monster (check out Angela’s new site dedicated to the Green Monster, it’s AWESOME!)

102_3148

It did the trick perfectly and fueled me until 2pm!  However, by that time both Mike and I were quite starving.  We set out to find lunch around 1:30ish but didn’t end up settling on something until 2!  We started at Chelsea Market but sadly most of the eateries were closed due to the holiday

I did snap some pictures though just because it was SUCH a cool place and I will DEFINITELY be eating there in the future!

102_3152

The sign that shows all the different companies in the building (FOOD NETWORK!!):

102_3154

Vintage memorabilia from when it was a cookie factory!!

102_3155

And free Amy’s Bread samples!!  (Mike didn’t even hesitate when he saw these…he made a beeline straight for them and was eating one before I even noticed the stash!)

102_3156

Once we’d had our fill of all the cool things inside we headed back uptown to the Whole Foods on 24th street.  This is definitely a place that I could go ABSOLUTELY broke in.  Thank GOODNESS there isn’t one in Hoboken or I’d definitely be in the poor house!

On the way I saw this great sign:

102_3163

Couldn’t agree more!

Once inside Whole Foods I headed straight for their MASSIVE salad bar.  I could seriously fill a bowl with $50 of food from the salad bar alone – it is AH-MAZING!  I wish I could take a picture for those of you who haven’t seen it, but unfortunately they don’t allow flash photography inside

We ate our food outside in Madison Square Park:

102_3164

102_3165

It was B-E-A-UTIFUL out!

My salad…

102_3168

102_3169

I honestly don’t know if I can recap but I’ll do the best I can to remember:

  • Mixed greens, romaine and spinach
  • Zucchini
  • Summer squash
  • Cucumbers
  • Carrots
  • Falafel ball
  • 3 strips of grilled chicken
  • Hummus
  • Broccoli
  • Pineapple
  • Grapes
  • Kale (first time trying it!  I couldn’t really taste it all mixed in with the other stuff)

Mike was a healthy boy too and got turkey meatloaf, kale, a potato pancake and a Zevia rootbeer!

102_3171

What a handsome guy

I was DYING of thirst after lunch and when we ambled by the Jamba Juice on our way back to the PATH I just couldn’t resist.  I got a sixteen ounce Berry Fulfilling smoothie…very true to it’s name!  It was the perfect thing on a HOT day.

102_3173

After we made our way back into Hoboken we relaxed for a while then headed over to Ben & Jerry’s as Mike was craving a milkshake.  I hadn’t planned on getting anything but once inside and smelling the aroma of those delicious chocolate-dipped cones, I just couldn’t resist!  I got a small chocolate cookie dipped cone with no-sugar added Vanilla Fudge Chip:

102_3191

I’m not sure what we’re up to for dinner but I’m feeling like we HAVE to get some burgers or something to properly celebrate this day!  If only we had a nice patio on which to grill – SIGH.  Maybe some day!

Hope you’re all having a wonderful holiday!!

Goin’ Green

You can now officially add Cait’s Plate to your iGoogle page and Google Reader Just click here

Breakfast this morning was a Green Monster and it was delicious!

100_2939

I just love these guys.  I don’t know if it’s mental or if I’m actually feeling the physical effects, but I SWEAR these leave me feeling more energized!

100_2952

101_2924

101_2930

Because I don’t own a blender () I’m not able to make a true Jenna-style Green Monster, but despite my simpler mix, it was still great! I used:

  • 1.5 cups of light soymilk (I use Silk plain)
  • About .5 tbsp. Amazing Grass Wheat Grass

On the side I had a Cedar’s Whole Wheat wrap for some carby-carbs.  Somehow I lost my entire stash of bars that I bought this weekend (?!?) so this had to do.

100_2941

100_2943

I’m off to sip some tea and check some email then it’s time to head into work!

I’ve got a few special dates for lunch today – a perfect way to spend my mid-day break!  Not sure where we’re going yet but excited to see!

An AMAZING Package

June 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

This afternoon we celebrated a co-worker’s birthday (Happy Birthday Ali!) with none other than Magnolia’s cupcakes!

Picture 001

Picture 002 Picture 004 Picture 006

Magnolia is one of the best-known cupcake places in the city and we just recently got one right across from our building, which is absolutely awesome. (For those Sex and the City fans out there, you may remember Carrie and Miranda’s scene eating pink frosted cupcakes outside Magnolia – makes my sister and I crave cupcakes every time without fail!)

I didn’t have one for fear of spoiling my dinner appetite so I can’t give a proper review, but they definitely looked pretty darn tasty!

When I got home this was waiting in my mailbox…….

101_2933

MY AMAZING GRASS PACKAGE!!  I was so hoping this would be here waiting upon my return so you can imagine how thrilled I was to find it.  I see a Green Chocolate Monster in my near future…

For dinner tonight I tried something new that I found at a grocery store while home this weekend – It’s All Good’s Veggie Chick’n Santa Fe Good Stuff

101_2916

WOW! These did not disappoint!  For those of you unfamiliar with “chick’n,” I will warn you that if you’re expecting it to taste exactly like the meat, you’ll be let down.  It has a unique flavor that’s definitely wonderful within its own right, but won’t be enjoyed if you have your heart set on a certain taste.

Anyway, the sauce accompanied by the black bean and corn stuffing??  SO.  GOOD.  I put it over the last of my salad ingredients as they were on their final day and served it with a toasted whole wheat pita which I of course broiled with a little olive oil and salt

101_2919

101_2920

Followed by this guy:

101_2936

I honestly don’t know if I was actually hungry for this or if I was just suffering withdrawal from not having one all day!  Either way, it tasted great

I’m not sure what the rest of the night holds…but I’m thinking it’s going to be something active – I’ve had enough sitting for one day!
