HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE!!
I hope you all have exciting plans today and some fireworks
in your future later tonight!
Today has been a fun and exciting day so far – Mike and I have been all over both New York and Hoboken! The first thing we set out to do though was drop my computer off at the MAC store! It’s not looking good guys. They had to keep it over night for observation but a full recovery does not seem favorable. SO SAD!
I’m thinking I may just have to bite the bullet and get a new one. If anyone has any suggestions for good yet affordable laptop, PLEASE SHARE!
Knowing we had a long day of walking ahead of us I decided to start it off with an energizing Green Monster (check out Angela’s new site dedicated to the Green Monster, it’s AWESOME!)

It did the trick perfectly and fueled me until 2pm! However, by that time both Mike and I were quite starving. We set out to find lunch around 1:30ish but didn’t end up settling on something until 2! We started at Chelsea Market but sadly most of the eateries were closed due to the holiday
I did snap some pictures though just because it was SUCH a cool place and I will DEFINITELY be eating there in the future!

The sign that shows all the different companies in the building (FOOD NETWORK!!):

Vintage memorabilia from when it was a cookie factory!!

And free Amy’s Bread samples!! (Mike didn’t even hesitate when he saw these…he made a beeline straight for them and was eating one before I even noticed the stash!)

Once we’d had our fill of all the cool things inside we headed back uptown to the Whole Foods on 24th street. This is definitely a place that I could go ABSOLUTELY broke in. Thank GOODNESS there isn’t one in Hoboken or I’d definitely be in the poor house!
On the way I saw this great sign:

Couldn’t agree more!
Once inside Whole Foods I headed straight for their MASSIVE salad bar. I could seriously fill a bowl with $50 of food from the salad bar alone – it is AH-MAZING! I wish I could take a picture for those of you who haven’t seen it, but unfortunately they don’t allow flash photography inside
We ate our food outside in Madison Square Park:

It was B-E-A-UTIFUL out!
My salad…

I honestly don’t know if I can recap but I’ll do the best I can to remember:
- Mixed greens, romaine and spinach
- Zucchini
- Summer squash
- Cucumbers
- Carrots
- Falafel ball
- 3 strips of grilled chicken
- Hummus
- Broccoli
- Pineapple
- Grapes
- Kale (first time trying it! I couldn’t really taste it all mixed in with the other stuff)
Mike was a healthy boy too and got turkey meatloaf, kale, a potato pancake and a Zevia rootbeer!

What a handsome guy
I was DYING of thirst after lunch and when we ambled by the Jamba Juice on our way back to the PATH I just couldn’t resist. I got a sixteen ounce Berry Fulfilling smoothie…very true to it’s name! It was the perfect thing on a HOT day.

After we made our way back into Hoboken we relaxed for a while then headed over to Ben & Jerry’s as Mike was craving a milkshake. I hadn’t planned on getting anything but once inside and smelling the aroma of those delicious chocolate-dipped cones, I just couldn’t resist! I got a small chocolate cookie dipped cone with no-sugar added Vanilla Fudge Chip:

I’m not sure what we’re up to for dinner but I’m feeling like we HAVE to get some burgers or something to properly celebrate this day! If only we had a nice patio on which to grill – SIGH. Maybe some day!
Hope you’re all having a wonderful holiday!!
