Walk It Out

0 · May 30, 2012 · 14 Comments

It was a pretty busy morning around here!

After breakfast I digested a bit and then did a quick 20 minutes of yoga and then took Clara for a little walk to give her some outside time.

She did a great job for the full 20 minutes but I definitely think the heat took it out of her!

She was panting like a maniac 5 minutes in!

Needless to say when we got in, she went straight for the water bowl!

And her classic “cool-down” position:

Shortly after Chad was home for lunch.

I was craving a big old salad:

Into the mix went:

  • Mixed greens
  • Edamame
  • Hard boiled egg
  • Shredded carrots
  • Onion
  • Avocado

Topped with balsamic vinaigrette!

With an orange on the side:

We also broke out a bag of Red Pepper and Salsa Fresca tortilla chips that the kind folks over at The Better Chip sent along!

These chips have a great crunch and incredible flavor in addition to being all-natural and gluten-free!

At only 130 calories for the whole bag, these are definitely going to become a lunch staple – dipped in hummus or alongside a sandwich or a salad…I can’t wait for all the different ways to try these guys out!

And for all your non-believers out there, even Chad loved them! 😉

Speaking of Chad, while I was thrilled with this lunch, I think Clara was just content to have him (and his lap) home:

She slept happily against him the whole time.

We watched a little Million Dollar Listing and then Chad was off once again.

I have a date with the gym and my GRE books on tap for the rest of the afternoon!

I know – it definitely is an adjustment! I have to pick my workout times wisely if I’m trying to go outside!

Aw thanks! She’s actually my sister’s dog (we’re dog sitting for her) but I definitely agree with you! And totally – the best part about salads is how colorful you can make them!

Your doggie is so cute! I love taking my dog out for a run or a walk, when we get home he totally knocks out, really wears him out!

Exactly! That’s pretty much the main reason why I walk Clara!
