Greens

1 · Jun 20, 2012 · 20 Comments

Surprisingly, my breakfast held me over pretty well!

Around noon, I broke for a quick and easy lunch to break up the studying monotony.

Chad came home and we headed over to Crisp for some greens

The entire atmosphere of Crisp just makes you want to eat healthy and do good things for yourself.

Which is just what we did!

I went with a custom salad creation:

And the results were delicious as usual.

Into the mix I requested:

  • Spring mix
  • Shredded carrots
  • Cucumbers
  • Craisins
  • Candied walnuts
  • Egg
  • Avocado

Topped with balsamic vinaigrette.

With the signature crostini in the side.

A great way to break up the day.

Another great way to break up the day?

Grab a bushel of bananas and head over to Health.com for my latest recipe!

You will not be disappointed. Β Chad has already requested I make another one of these!

I’ve got my GRE class tonight – hoping to squeeze in a little yoga beforehand…

      I would die without a make-your-own-salad place. It’s like my go-to lunch when I don’t bring!

This banana cake is totally up my alley. I love making simple substitutions like that to turn something from a dessert into a snack by making it more healthy. Great job on this… will definitely be trying it soon!

How weird is this: I just arrived home from my first trip to Chicago last night!! From your pictures it seems like you and I crossed paths several times without knowing it. Chicago is beautiful, isn’t it?

Initially when I read this, I was craving a nice healthy salad and now you have me only thinking about a huge slice of gooey cake. Haha, I’m so easily persuaded. πŸ™‚

They sell that potted grass thing at Crate and Barrel! I love it. Good luck with studying. It’s so hard balancing everything! I always felt so busy while studying for the GMAT but it’s so rewarding once it’s done!

Definitely! And thank you! I need the luck – it has been pretty nuts but you’re so right that I when it’s over it’s going to feel SO good.

You two seem to eat out all.the.time. How do you manage that on a budget (especially since you’re not working)? Just wondering – for my guy & I, eating out is a treat that we can only afford to do once in a while.

Yeah it’s definitely been a little heavy on the eating out lately – it’s not by choice we’ve just been traveling so much that a stocked kitchen has been hard to keep. That plus work/studying has equated to a way more meals out than we would prefer both financially and calorically!

I want to go there! Preferably with you.

And I have a disgusting amount of ripe bananas in my freezer….because you and I both know that bananas are disgusting unless they are hiding in baked good. Like that CAKE that I want to eat 100 pieces of!
