The Italian Pie

Hi there!

I took my walk and did my yoga and boy did it feel good!

It also made me tired.

Chad and I usually do pizza + movie night on Friday nights and tonight was no different…

We headed to The Italian Pie – another restaurant on our “Restaurant To-Do” list – just another plus 🙂

We didn’t have super high expectations for this place – it’s a chain restaurant so we figured it would just be “okay.”  But we both wanted to try it anyway.

I browsed the menu onlineand immediately decided on the Roasted Eggplant Pizza – Zesty garlic sauce topped with roasted eggplant, fresh mushrooms, fresh tomato, sautéed onions, feta and mozzarella.

Then I sent the link to Chad over gchat and told him to pick out what he wanted and I’d order it so we could just pick it up on the way home.

He almost immediately said “I think I want to try the roasted chicken calzone” which in turn immediately changed my mind to wanting a calzone.

We had made homemade pizzas on Tuesday night so a calzone sounded like the perfect change of pace:

It certainly smelled good!

And it certainly looked good!

And as luck would have it, it tasted good too!

I chose to create my own.  I started with wheat dough that I had stuffed with roasted eggplant, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, artichoke hearts and feta cheese.

SO good.

We’re sucked into House Hunters International right now and doing a little packing.

We’re off to the airport first thing tomorrow!!

I love that you have a list of restaurants to eat at! We usually stick to the classic places for in town. We should make a list for Chicago though, we try to keep track of it in our heads which never goes well!

Haha I know – I used to try to just keep track of it but as the list gets longer and longer it gets harder and harder. Plus on those nights where you’re just not feeling anything in particular, this list comes in pretty handy 🙂
