A Sad Happiness

0 · May 10, 2012 · 13 Comments

There was a nearly-empty Sunflower Seed Butter jar just calling my name from the cupboard this morning…

Is it sad how excited I get when this happens?

It’s fiiiiiiiine.

You can say yes.

I depend on the happiness of a nearly-empty jar to off-set the sadness of a nearly-empty jar.

Don’t question it, it makes sense.

Now my only problem is saving up enough money to buy another one of these jars.

Apparently food prices have gone up – because my once $2.99 jar of Sunflower Seed Butter is now anywhere from $5-$7!

It’s a tragedy.

Into what may be my last jar for a while went:

  • 1/2 cup Trader Joe’s rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 5 sliced strawberries
  • 1/3 cup water

Plain and simple.

Coffee on the side:

Happy Thursday!

Ohhhh… that is a sad happy. I did that with a Nutella jar recently. It’s probably a good thing it doesn’t happen every day. 🙂

I heard that TJ’s increased the price of their sunbutter. Must have seen the HUGE demand. Damn that economy. 🙁

Isn’t it ridiculous how everything is so expensive now? I usually buy my peanut or almond butter from the bulk section and it’s a lot cheaper. The other day, when the machine was broken, I bought the Maranatha AB and was shocked at how expensive it was. 🙁

It really is getting upsetting! I can barely get out of the grocery store for under $60 now. I used to be able to get a full week’s worth of food for that much!

I totally feel your pain/joy. I found myself thinking yesterday morning when I had oats in an almost-empty almond butter jar that my high of the day was going to be OIAJ and my low of the day was going to be not having a jar of almond butter in the house. Such mixed emotions!

I make my own AB every week or two in small batches so that I can 1) keep the cost down and 2) so that I have empty jars more frequently for OIAJ!
