Celebrate the Season

0 · Jun 22, 2012 · 8 Comments

Now that summer has “officially” begun (even though me and this girl have proclaimed it ‘summer’ since about the last week in May) – it’s time to do something special to celebrate it every day!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that today, I’m rocking a pop of color to celebrate the second day of the season!

I’ve been finding myself feeling like my whole summer is passing me by while I’m stuck inside studyingโ€ฆso my little “do something little every day to celebrate the season” is one way that I can combat that. Even if I’m not playing on the beach, I can at least feel like I’m doing something to enjoy my summer.

Last night, it was a cookout + ice cream.

Today it was my green pants.

Gotta take the little things, right?

Chad came home for lunch and while he ate leftover turkey burgers from last night , I wanted something a little different (read: when I have a fully-stocked kitchen it’s hard for me not to want to break into everything all at once).

Hummus & veggie sandwich with more of those cherries on the side!

I love veggie and hummus sandwiches in the summertime. They’re a nice change from turkey and they’re much lighter which works wonderfully with the warmer weather.

I simply toasted up 2 slices of 100% whole wheat bread then slathered each side with hummus + avocado.

Then I simply added mixed greens and shredded carrots.

Polished off with a mix of rainier and red cherries –

Perfectly refreshing.

Love your idea to do one thing a day. I’ve been wearing a bright orange bag to work which makes me feel summery and cheery despite the fact that I am sitting indoors in an office all day. I’m excited to see how you continue to embrace the summer each day!
