focus on: new products

focus on: new products - a monthly wrap-up of new products on the market // cait's plate

It was always drilled into us during our Masters programs that RDs are the food and nutrition experts out there.  As such, we were told time and time again the importance of staying on top of food trends and trying new products.  I do diligently make sure I’m always trying new products, but until now I haven’t always been the best at sharing that with you all.  So I’ve decided to do a new wrap-up post sharing all the new products I’ve come across each month.  So without further ado:

Hippeas: A crispy snack made from chickpeas!  These little guys definitely satisfy the crunch requirement of a savory snack – I recommend the far out fajita flavor.

Bonafide Drinkable Veggies: Not only do these taste great, but every one contains less than 10 grams of sugar.  I like to use them as part of a grab and go snack.

SnackNation: SnackNation recently sent me their Best in Class snack box to try out.  I haven’t gotten through all of it yet but I did try the scotch oatmeal cookies, the unreal peanut butter cup and the beanitos baked white bean mac n’cheese crunch and all were fabulous (especially the beanitos!).  Best of all, for every SnackNation box purchased, they donate a meal to Feeding America.  The kind folks at SnackNation are also allowing me to share a special link with you that allows you all to get your very own FREE box!  Just click here for endless snack enjoyment: SnackNation.com/Snacks

Enlightened Ice Cream: I’m personally not the biggest fan of “lightened” products in general.  I’d rather have a little bit of the real thing.  But I also know that many people do enjoy lighter versions of their favorites and feel it’s easier to balance their overall diet that way.  So if you’re one of those people, may be worth checking this out!

Siggi’s Whole Milk Drinkable Yogurts: These make for easy grab and go snacks or breakfasts if you pair with a little fruit!

Real Food, Real Simple: This new cookbook by fellow RD and blogger friend, Taylor Riggs is not only stunning but packed with delicious, simple, real food recipes.  Just my style!
