It’s been a day full of time with my nieces!

I started the day off super early with a trip to Starbucks for my go-to travel breakfast of a venti soy misto and a perfect oatmeal…

I love the new look of the perfect oatmeal…very clean.

A 2 hour flight later and I was on the ground taking the T to my sister’s!  By the time I got there, we dropped Julia off to Kindergarten and got back home it was lunch time!

My wonderful sister had leftover lentils, couscous, homemade bread and orchard-picked apples that she kindly served me for lunch.

It was perfect for this rainy Boston day.

And since some of you asked, here’s the recipe for the bread:

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups of water
  • 2 tbsp. canola oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 4 cups white whole wheat flour
  • Packet of active dry yeast
Directions:
  1. Combine ingredients adjusting the flour/water as needed (adding flour if it’s too sticky, water if it’s too dry)
  2. Place in a greased, lightly floured bread pan and cover with a clean kitchen towel.  Allow to rise until doubled in size (1-3 hours).
  3. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with some work (on my part), some Dora Halloween (on Madeleine’s part) and some playtime on the playground after we picked Julia up from school.

We all munched on some baby carrots when we got in the door and then kept dinner simple and just topped some whole wheat pasta with sauce and mozzarella.

Dessert was a homemade apple pie crisp a’la mode!  My sister was inspired by my apple pie bread and it was delicious!

I’m sure it will be an early morning tomorrow with the kiddos so on that note, I’m calling it a night!

Have a blast in Boston! I miss it so much and have been meaning to get back up there since I graduated [already over a year ago]!

P.S. I totally wanna try baking a loaf of bread- it sounds simpler than I thought 🙂 And is that a string cheese on your pasta? If yes, love it, I do it too haha!

Hahah yep! It is string cheese 🙂 I took it out of the girls’ snack draw and just added it right on top 🙂
