STRAWBERRY LEMONADE FIZZ

0 · May 31, 2013 · 8 Comments

Summer is literally right around the corner and that makes me so happy.

Cause that means that it’s time for after-dinner walks, ice cream for no reason and lots and lots of grilling.

It also means longer days and drinking 3847598235792 gallons of liquid just to stay hydrated.

Homemade strawberry lemonade is something I’ve wanted to make FOREVER – but just never got around to it.  So you can imagine how excited I was when I had some leftover lemons and strawberries that needed using!

(Probably way more excited than anyone should ever be over something like that).  As a nice little extra, you can easily throw a little vodka in here and have a perfectly refreshing cocktail for summer cookouts!

{strawberry lemonade fizz} – recipe from foodnetwork.com

makes: 1 pitcher

 ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 2 cups cold seltzer water
  • Ice

directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Add the lemon peel and lemon juice, stir, and remove from the heat. Let cool completely, then strain into a clean pitcher.
  2. In a blender, puree the pint of strawberries and add to the pitcher with the lemon juice. Stir well to combine and refrigerate until well chilled.
  3. Add the sparkling water and stir well. Pour over glasses filled with ice and serve, garnished with sliced lemon and strawberries.
