One thing I realized really early on in pregnancy is that you need to be careful how much you google things. There is SO MUCH information out there – some information and helpful, others downright terrifying. For me, I wanted one or two expert sources that I felt like I could trust to be my guides during pregnancy. My doctor recommended I read the What to Expect When Expecting book which I immediately got and follow along with, but it’s fun to have apps that are customized to your due date that tell you all about the week you’re entering.
My 3 favorites right now are:
This was only natural given how much I like the book and their site. As I’ve mentioned previously, I find their approach to advice really appealing. They inform you without scaring you which, as a mom-to-be is really important! There’s enough to worry about every day, the last thing you need to do is read horror stories about potential risks that might be out there! Most of the time what I read on this app puts my mind at ease rather than making me panic. I also find the weekly videos to be really informative and I love that they offers tools like the photo journal and what to expect for different tests & screening options.
This is another app that I love given its tone. I always find it eases my worries versus making them worse. I love the set up of it (who could not enjoy all those bright, happy colors?!) and the fact that it provides information on what to expect for all of the big appointments. You get a customized view based on the week you’re in, but can also look at it based on the trimester. They also cover things like Maternity Fashion which, as I’m sure you’ve caught onto by now, I love seeing!
Like the others, this app is customized for you based on your week. I also find the articles included in each week to be really helpful and informative (again, without being scary!). They too offer a “Bumpie” gallery which is a fun place to keep your monthly bump pictures and also have a “Is it Safe?” tool which is super helpful (one of the things I’ve googled most often during pregnancy has been the question ‘Is X,Y,Z safe during pregnancy?’ so this is a great and easy way to stay on top of those questions). You can also keep a running list of favorite baby names! I’m also sure I’ll begin using the kick tracker and contraction timer when those moments come!
Any other favorites you guys have? Please share with me!
