What to Expect When Expecting: This was recommended by my doctor. I love the tone of the book – it’s not too extreme in one direction or the other. It provides helpful information but is not too ‘preachy’ and never comes across as terrifying.
Body pillow: I’m a back sleeper through and through so this became really important for me in the second trimester when you’re supposed to transition to sleeping on your side.
Heating pad: Honestly, I’ve been using this more for comfort than for soothing aches and pains – but it definitely helps with both! Sometimes when I’m tossing and turning and having trouble sleeping, I find putting this under my back helps relax me enough to get back to bed.
Belly band: This became SUPER useful when my belly got bigger. It provides extra support not only for your back but also for your tummy. It’s a definite lifesaver for women who want to keep running throughout their pregnancy (despite a growing tummy!), but honestly I can see it being helpful even just day to day if you’re struggling with back pain.
MyChelle Sun Shield Clear Spray Broad Spectrum Sunscreen: This sunscreen is great. It’s a water-resistant UVA and UVB full-spectrum sun protection. It utilizes a titanium oxide and zinc oxide (vs. oxybenzone) and is free of things like parabens, phthalates and artificial fragrances. PLUS it lasts for 80 minutes!
Herbal Insect Repellant: I love this because it’s herbal-based and DEET-free. I get eaten alive in the summer so to try to mitigate unwanted bites (hello zika!), I spray this on over my suntan lotion.
It Cosmetics CC Cream: I love this cream not only because it provides full coverage but is also paraben-free and contains titanium oxide and zinc oxide-based SPF 50.
Floppy Hats: If you couldn’t tell, sun protection is high on my list! Big floppy hats in addition to my sunscreen have been a huge lifesaver. This way I can be out in the sun with everyone else but not worry about over-exposing my skin to the sun’s rays.
Got others that I might be missing? Please share! I’m always looking for resources, suggestions and recommendations!
