7 nursery essentials we rely on the most at 12 months of age.
I get a lot of questions on Instagram about baby products and I haven’t done a products post in a while (I promise to get a 6-12 month product post up soon!) and as I was feeding Owen in his nursery the other day I was looking around and thinking how there are a few items in there that are really tried and true. Things that we’ve used since Owen was born and still use daily at almost 12 months!
Owen is obsessed with books. We got these floating shelves so we can put out a few of his current favorites (right now that’s definitely Cars and Trucks and Things That Go, any Pete the Cat, though Wheels on the Bus and Old MacDonald are heavy favorites and any Little Blue Truck book) out. Owen loves that he can reach them himself and spends so many hours a week pulling out different books and flipping through them.
These blackout curtains are also a total lifesaver. I found Owen napped so much better once we got them because the room was dark. They truly are blackout too! It also helps him to sleep a little later in the morning 🙂
I’ve talked about our Owlet monitor in previous product posts but it remains one of my most prized possessions to date. It was honestly the ONLY thing that allowed me to sleep when we transitioned Owen to the crib and well into his 9th month. It’s on the pricey side but it’s absolutely money well-spent in my opinion. (Also? an end table in the nursery is a lifesaver…especially in the beginning but even now I still find myself using it!)
My rocking chair is another thing that I wouldn’t trade for the world. In the first few months I think I ended up falling asleep / sleeping in that chair more times than I can count. In fact the hardest part of traveling for me is not having this chair to feed/rock/sing/read to him in.
Our diaper genie is another thing that we’ve used since day 1 and still use today. We ended up getting a different monitor than the one we had at first and we like it much better. This is the Infant Optics and we love it because it can swivel around, zoom in and can even use different lenses (though we find the one it came with works perfectly).
Finally, our boppy pillow is another thing I still use daily for feeding and rocking. It’s a total arm saver and I think Owen finds it more comfortable than just my arm.
And that’s it! Hope this helps and new mamas / mamas to be out there when they’re trying to decide on items! I know it can be expensive and you want to make the wisest choices possible so hopefully this can help guide you a little bit!
