sharing my week in pictures & words
weeks of 2.13 – 2.27.2023
Hi friends!
Whew! February was a rough month. We had a lot of sickness float around the house which meant a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of clinginess and whining and a lot of me just hanging on to whatever shreds of sanity and my own well-being possible.
I’m trying to be more aware of my limits and rather than forcing myself to push through and get absolutely everything done that I had planned, I’m trying to be better at prioritizing the ‘must-do’s’ while also leaving some time for me to take a breather. I’ll often go from everything I’m doing for the kids and the household to everything I want to accomplish here and while it feels good to get everything done, it often leaves me totally drained which is not good for anyone, most especially myself.
Unfortunately part of that is recognizing that I’m only one person and can only accomplish so much in a day unless I risk running myself into the ground. As much as I would love to spend all day every day doing nothing but creating content for the site, it’s just not possible right now (and really, I’m telling myself this more than all of you – it’s a hard reality for me to accept!).
That said, I’m curious what content resonates most with you so that I can prioritize that when I have the time to create. What’s the most helpful? What do you look most forward to reading or seeing? Let me know!
Anyway, despite the rough moments over the past couple weeks, there was also a lot of fun! We got to the beach for a few days which was much needed for everyone – it’s one of the places where we all feel the happiest, so it was really nice to get a few days there. We are also still deep in our memory obsession – Ellie has joined in now and somehow (inexplicably) beat us all the other day (see her celebration of her victory above 😂). I finally got around to making these chocolate chip walnut cookies and they did not disappoint. Spring has also hit us down here and things are starting to bloom which automatically puts me in a good mood.
Other than that, I’m still working my way through Our Missing Hearts (reading time was scarce over the past two weeks) and have also been loving the [new to me] work of Claire Lerner. I particularly loved this Stop Trying to Make Your Kids Cooperate post.
And that’s about it from my end. I hope you’re all doing well and your week is off to a good start ♥️
