you guys

0 · Dec 17, 2012 · 15 Comments

I’m sure I sound like a broken record…but I don’t care.

you guys are amazing.

I honestly don’t know where I’d be without the blog community…you’ve all helped me through some of the toughest times in life.

so THANK YOU.  each and every single one of you.  you rock.

first – my grandmother is doing well.  she’s at home resting and the doctors feel like she should be back on her feet soon.  phew.  I absolutely cannot wait to give her a huge hug.  thank you all for your well wishes and thoughts and prayers…I honestly, truly believe they helped.

second of all – thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my town.  It will be a battle, getting through this time, for sure, but we’re a pretty close-knit community and I have faith that we will only come out stronger.  the banners and signs all around town lifted my heart as I pulled in…it’s nice to have that comfort in a time of such tragedy.

finally – I apologize for the delay in posting/weird schedule and meals for today!  it has been a hectic couple of days and today was no exception, but we should be back on track tomorrow now that I’m finally home!

I was out the door by 7:15am and at the airport grabbing my favorite travel breakfast ever –

{starbucks perfect oatmeal with all the fixin’s and a grande christmas blend + soymilk}

so good and it holds me over SO well every time!

which in this case was a good thing…my flight was delayed nearly 2 hours!  It was awful just having to sit there on the plane and wait but, if this past week’s tragedy has taught me anything, it’s that things can always be worse.  so I occupied myself well enough and before we knew it, we had touched down and I was onto the next leg of my trip.  the delay caused a time crunch leading me to rush through grand central and hop on the train with only my emergency bar to suffice for a “lunch” –

again, my “plan” was to get to Grand Central and enjoy a leisurely lunch…so this was certainly not my pick of things, but again, it can always be worse.  I was just grateful I had something in there!

another 2 or so hours on the train, then a grueling hour-long ride home from the train station (it usually takes 25 minutes but there were a TON of accidents) and I was finally at home.

I dropped my stuff, changed into pjs and made an early dinner…

28b1ec5c489711e2890322000a9e48f1 7

{2 scrambled eggs with feta, broccoli, whole wheat toast and an apple}

random, but delicious.  and it did the trick!

I will definitely be calling it an early night – I’m completely exhausted!  hope you all had wonderful starts to the week!

      Oh absolutely…losing my father four years ago definitely taught me that. It’s like a wound that never heals…even worse when it’s a senseless act. I can’t believe how many people I know that have suffered through something like this. What happened at NIU was so sad…

    Thinking of you… I am from Easton, just a few towns over, and am also so shaken up. We used to play sports in Newtown all the time. Ahhh… anyway, glad your grandmother seems to be doing better. You’re in my thoughts!

    Totally missed this post til now, but I hope your grandmother is doing okay. I had my own share of family emergencies this past month, unfortunately. That’s life I guess, but it is nice to know people care and are thinking of you during tough times (including the blog community)!
