Having lived and worked in and around NYC for so many years after college, I never even considered Boston would be able to live up to the amount of decorations they do.
But I’m happy to say I was wrong!
It turns out Boston does a pretty darn good job themselves! I’d highly recommend the following places if you’re in Boston and looking to get into the holiday spirit 🙂
Boston Commons – There’s a big Christmas tree lighting in November and it shines bright throughout the month of December. There’s also an ice skating rink that’s surrounded by trees lit in all different colored lights.
Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market – This is the place to be for holiday shopping! It’s packed filled with both mainstream and unique places (as well as bars and eateries) PLUS lighted tree lined brick pathways and a gigantic tree (at 80+ feet tall, it’s the biggest tree in New England…even bigger than the one in Rockefeller Center!) that puts on an incredible lightshow every 7 minutes throughout the holidays. Definitely worth seeing.
Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park – The beautiful trellis gets decked out in over 50,000 blue lights that literally make you feel like you’re in a magical world as you walk through them. It’s definitely a must-see!
By far my favorite part of all the city’s decorations!

This is so great! I was just thinking how I wanted to do something Christmasy in the city today. I always forget you are in Boston. We are in Salem so not a far drive into the city. Can’t wait to check some of this out!

Oh I bet Salem is awesome as well! Definitely check out these areas – they’re all close together so you can knock them all out in one trip! 🙂
