I don’t know about you guys, but when the weather is this hot, all I crave are easy, no-cook, refreshing dishes. For those of you that follow me on Instagram, it’s going to come as no surprise to you that I’ve been relying heavily on my smoothies and smoothie bowls this summer. But even the best smoothies can get a little boring after a while.
That’s when it dawned on my – I should combine my favorite smoothies all into one giving me not only a new flavor combination, but a beautiful (and refreshing!) new breakfast option.
I’ll always love my strawberry banana and green smoothie flavors, but lately I’ve also been loving a cherry smoothie so I figured why not put that smack in the middle of my two old standbys.
I would be lying if I said my motivation wasn’t in part because of how pretty I knew it was going to look once I put them all together.
But really, can you blame me? Who doesn’t love beautiful food?
Another added bonus though is the ease with which it comes together. Each layer has just 3 simple ingredients to worry about!
And the good news is that this isn’t just easy and beautiful. It’s also pretty darn nutritious. It packs a nice protein punch (thanks to the fact that I used milk in the base) as well as providing plenty of vitamins and minerals thanks to all the produce.
I recommend serving with a little granola, a handful of whole grain cereal or even a slice of toast with peanut butter!
Ingredients
- Strawberry Layer
- 1 small frozen banana
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries (frozen creates a thicker consistency)
- 1 cup milk of choice
- Cherry Layer
- 1 small frozen banana (or you can use 1/2 a large and split it between the layers)
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cherries
- 1 cup milk of choice
- Spinach Layer
- 1 small frozen banana
- 2 large bunches of spinach
- 1 cup milk of choice
Instructions
- Combine all the ingredients for the strawberry layer in a blender or food processor and process until smooth
- Pour the blended ingredients out into a glass and store in the freezer while you prepare the other layers
- Note: You can choose to rinse out the blender or food processor before starting on the next layer, but it's not critical
- Add the ingredients for the cherry layer into the blender or food processor and process until smooth
- Pour the blended ingredients out into a glass and store in the freezer while you prepare the final layer
- Add the ingredients for the spinach layer into the blender or food processor and process until smooth
- Remove first two layers from the freezer and then using a spoon, carefully scoop strawberry layer into the glass.
- Follow the strawberry layer with the cherry layer and finally top off with the spinach layer.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For added thickness and additional protein, you can also choose to add a dollop of plain greek yogurt to each layer! Just blend right up with the other ingredients!

This smoothie looks so good! I love that you actually get to have three smoothies in one. That’s such a good idea. Plus, it’s pretty 🙂 The cherry layer looks amazing!
