Since Owen just turned 7 months on Tuesday (don’t ask me how!!), I’m back again for another round of what products we’re loving lately.
For those that are just joining me, I’ve also done a product post for 0-2 months and 2-4 months!
Owen is obsessed with books. We read around 15 books a day! I find myself constantly buying new ones to keep it interesting for him though he definitely has a few favorites. This Big Box of Bright and Early Board Books About Me was a present from Owen’s Grannie and he absolutely loves them. We read this all through at least once a day. All the Bright and Early Board Books have been a success for us so far. A few other favorites have been:
- Are You My Mother?
- Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?: Dr. Seuss’s Book of Wonderful Noises
- The Ear Book
- Dr. Seuss’s ABC: An Amazing Alphabet Book!
- Dinoblock (Alphablock)
- That’s Not My Dinosaur and That’s Not My Puppy: Its Coat Is Too Hairy (Usborne Touchy-Feely Books)
- Never Touch a Monster
- Ten Tiny Toes
My Busy Town Wooden Activity Cube
Owen has a blast with this activity cube. He’ll happily play in front of this for 30 minutes or more, flipping the ABC tiles, playing with the curvy wire rides, opening and closing the peak-a-boo doors and mixing the spin and match animals. He’s gotten to the point now where he pulls himself up from sitting to standing on the upper racing rollers – we also use them for counting.
VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker
Owen will happily play with this for 30 minutes or more. Even Ollie got in on the fun claiming the purple phone for his own – which is now full of teeth marks The little activity piece also comes off so before he was really able to sit/stand I could put it on the floor for him to play with as well.
Meal Time
Ingenuity Baby Base 2-in-1 Seat
This is great for mealtime. We have a highchair (more on that later) but this is great for when we’re all sitting on the table. I can put it on any chair and he’s able to eat in it, play in it or just hang out with us while we’re eating dinner.
We got this Cosco Simple Fold Deluxe High Chair and we really like it except for the fact that it has a fabric seat. Initially I thought that would be good for Owen’s comfort, but after one (very messy!) feeding, I quickly realized it was more hassle than help. It doesn’t come off easily for washing which means I have to hand wipe it down after every feeding (because let’s be honest, babies are NOT clean eaters!). My sister-in-law has this Ikea high chair which we’ve used when visiting her and it’s MUCH easier to wipe down/clean-up so I would recommend that over our Cosco seat for that one reason.
Munchkin White Hot Infant Safety Spoons
I love these spoons for meal time. The spoon tip turns white when baby’s food is too hot and returns to its color once its cool enough. They’re also phthalate, latex, lead and BPA Free.
I love these things so much. They came in especially handing once Owen started teething because I could pop a cold piece of fruit in there and he could gnaw on it until his heart’s content. I mostly put fruit in – oranges, apple and pear slices, strawberries – they keep him happy for 15 minutes or more and he loves sucking the juice out. I also like that they’re associating a chewing motion with food for him which will hopefully help us transition to more table food with less gagging!
Bathtime
Skip Hop Moby Bath Smart Sling 3-Stage Bathtub, Blue
Owen outgrew his Warming Waterfall Bath Tub so we moved on to this one and are loving it. It’s a 3-stage tub so if we end up having another kid, it will be great for re-use. It’s comfortable, easy to clean and was super easy to put together. All things we love!
Skip Hop Zoo Bath Squirties, Multi
Speaking of bath time, it’s become much more than just something relaxing for Owen. We’re noticing he loves the water and he now likes to “play” more in the bath. We got these
Skip Hop squirties for him to play with and he’s absolutely loved them (side note: they’re also great for teething!)
Owen is much more active now (army crawling all over the house!) and his focus has shifted from sitting in my lap and staring/batting at toys to getting into everything (cords, furniture, our shark vacuum, Ollie’s bones!) so we’re moved away from toys. The “toys” he plays with most are rubber kitchen spatulas, mixing bowls, our Roku remote, my lipgloss ball (see image at the top) and our phones. For some reason though, despite my sister-in-law handing us down tons of old toys (including his own toy remote!) – only the real things seem to do. When he’s actually willing to sit down, we mostly read books. He gravitates towards those much more than the millions of toys we have so we’ve been fostering that as much as possible.
- the Nuna MIXX Travel System and Pipa Car Seat
- the Boppy Nursing Pillow and Positioner – this was great when he was first starting to sit, I would place it right behind him for support
- the Boon Grass Countertop Drying Rack
- the Owlet Smart Sock – literally won’t put Owen down without it! it helped with the transition to the crib SO much!
- the Fisher‑Price Laugh & Learn Jumperoo
- the Ergobaby 360
Again, I hope this is helpful for you! I know how much I rely on recommendations I feel like I can trust from others so I hope I can be that source for you (and help save you the headache of reading tons of reviews so you can just spend your time with your precious little one!). If you have other products you’re curious about, feel free to drop me a note! I’m sure there are more things that we use that I’m forgetting (thank you mom brain!)!
