Yoooooo -

Today has been a fun one.

It started off beautifully with a little coffee and reading -

P9120002.JPG

It was absolutely lovely.

P9120003.JPG

When I felt my hunger kick in I whipped up a quick egg white wrap to curb that -

P9120007.JPG

P9120010.JPG

So filling and delicious. I’m pretty sure I could eat one of these babies for breakfast every single day. It really is my Breakfast of Champions. Tastes delicious. Fills me up. Perfection.

While I enjoyed the peaceful quite of the morning, it didn’t last very long as I had to get my butt moving to get ready for the game!

P9120013.JPG

We were worried about the rain but it actually held up beautifully! We arrived right on time at the Stadium and were STOKED about how close our seats were!

P9120016.JPG

P9120030.JPG

Just as we were seated Jeter was up -

P9120021.JPG

There was a standing ovation for him given his newly broken record for Yankee hits. It was pretty cool. I’m not a Yankee fan (Red Sox all the way) but Jeter is one of the players that I actually respect and like so I was happy for him

Shortly after sitting down I broke into my turkey wrap -

P9120022.JPG

Mmm. Turkey, lettuce and mustard. Amazing.

P9120023.JPG

The choices at Yankee Stadium are actually way better than they used to be (Mike got a turkey sandwich and they have sushi!) but I just couldn’t justify spending $12.00 on something that I could just as well make at home

Around the 7th inning stretch I found myself getting a little hungry again so I busted out my smuggled apple -

P9120074.JPG

“A crispy gala” (Mike makes fun of me for saying that and anytime I mention having an apple he says ‘a crispy gala??’ haha)

Despite the Yankee’s loss, we had a blast. Great seats. Great weather. Great company. Can’t ask for much more!

P9120041.JPG

P9120014.JPG

Not sure what’s up for dinner but I’ll of course keep you all updated!

Feels so nice to blog regularly again!! I miss you guys when I’m away!

Adios for now…

Easy As Pie

September 9, 2009 · 33 Comments

Pizza Pie that is! :D

P9090012.JPG

Yes, that’s right. That beauty was my dinner!

Let’s back up a little though…

Today’s highlights include -

1. My morning run with Mike :)

2. My perfectly made grande soy misto -

P9090001.JPG

I LOVE when they get it just right. Totally makes my day!!

3. My wonderfully crisp gala apple this afternoon -

P9090003.JPG

And finally -

P9090009.JPG

PITA PIZZAS!!

I’m not sure what my favorite part about these were…their taste or how incredibly easy they were to make!

I topped two whole wheat pitas with some old reliable good ol’ Ragu and fresh, sliced mozzarella

P9090005.JPG

Then I popped these in the oven on broil for about 10 minutes aaaand -

TA DAAAA!!

P9090015.JPG

P9090016.JPG

These things were seriously freaking amazing guys. DEFINITELY suggest you giving them a shot …and SOON!

I paired it with some delicious greens -

P9090006.JPG

P9090010.JPG

Licked clean :D

P9090018.JPG

Topped off with a juicy pear and some Everwood for good measure ;)

P9090020.JPG

I’m glad I wasn’t alone in my guilty pleasure, 90210 ;) I loved the original so I couldn’t pass up watching this one.

Actually, I was a little disappointed with last night’s episode…not much happened!!

Next week is looking good though – AND GOSSIP GIRL PREMIERE IS MONDAY!

YAAAAAY! :D

Off to watch Sugar with Mike! We’ve been waiting for this one forever!

Ps – Did anyone else hear that Nicole Richie named her kid Sparrow James Midnight Madden?! I mean…really? It’s like she just looked around the room and started naming things!

Oh!  And P.P.S – The coffee yogurt (since so many of you asked!) was Brown Cow brand.  Definitely not homemade – I wish I was that creative!!

Homemade is Best

September 2, 2009 · 14 Comments

Morning!

(I would usually say “Happy Hump Day” but I recently found out that Mike apparently hates that saying…so I’ll refrain from doing so…maybe I’ll make him make up a different saying for it…)

I’m happy to report that I’m feeling slightly better this morning! Not 100% but at least I didn’t feel like I was going to die if I had to get out of bed. Haha. That’s something right? No Swine Flu for this girl!!

I’m not very hungry this morning so I’m just starting my day off with a cup of coffee with soymilk and I’ll grab something more once I get into work.

P8310011.JPG

On another note – I’m looking to make some homemade granola

200909020729.jpg

Does anyone have any good base recipes? I’m thinking I either want to make vanilla almond or pumpkin

I’ve been seeing it all around blogland lately and have been really tempted to give it a try (especially after seeing Nature’s Path pumpkin flax plus granola on Katie and Heather’s blogs…) – but everyone always says homemade is best.

I wonder if that’s the case still when you’ve never made it before… Haha. I guess we shall see!

-

Ps – I was glad to see I’m not alone when it comes to delivery disappointment! There’s nothing worse than getting the wrong thing (or nothing at all!). It just goes to show, you always end up paying for laziness (literally and figuratively!).

Catch you all later!

Productive Day

August 30, 2009 · 14 Comments

Morning (Afternoon?) Guys!

It’s been quite a productive day for me so far which is awesome :)

My to-do list is rapidly shrinking!

  • Watch Everwood
  • Gaming project for Health
  • Grocery shop
  • Walk
  • Clean
  • Bake pumpkin bread
  • Laundry (Clean/Fold/Put away)
  • Yoga

My morning started out with a little bit o’ this:

P8300002.JPG

:D

And then a little bit o’ that:

P8300007.JPG

P8300004.JPG

Mmm – Caffeinated productivity ;)

I wasn’t hungry at all when I first woke up (again! GAR!) so I decided to get crackin’ on my list of things to do.

Around 12:30 I started to feel the slightest bit hungry so I made a quick and easy breakfast wrap -

P8300010.JPG

P8300011.JPG

Just egg whites today…and DANG IT! I just realized I forgot to add the hot sauce again! I keep meaning to do this and I forget every time!

Oh well – it was good nontheless.

I paired it with the last of my coffee from earlier this morning -

P8300009.JPG

Perfection.

P8300008.JPG

I’ve got a Pumpkin loaf baking in the oven and my whole apartment smells SO GOOD!

I’ll be sure to post the recipes and pictures later on :)

-

My friend Tom (who I’ve talked about before) sent me a picture of his cappuccino all the way from Kenya. It’s SO beautiful!

DSC02003.JPG

I LOVE the paw in the center! I think it’s cinnamon?? HOLY YUM! Thanks for sharing Tom :)

See you all later!

Perfect Saturday

August 29, 2009 · 14 Comments

Hello Blogworld!

It’s been a perfect little Saturday so far! Days like this just put me in the best mood!

Neither Mike nor I were hungry first thing this morning so we decided to make a brunch of it.

Therefore I kicked off the day with a delicious mug of coffee -

P8290002.JPG

I don’t know what I did, but I definitely did something right with it because it was absolutely fabulous!

Even Bruce wanted in on the action! ;)

P8290003.JPG

After I had a few hours of Everwood under my belt ( :D ) Mike and I headed out to get our favorite weekend treat:

Bagels!

P8290011.JPG

There are a few places in Hoboken that we love, but today we settled on the one we frequent most since it’s been a while – Sunrise Bagels.

P8290015.JPG

They have the fluffiest, most delicious bagels ever. PLUS they have egg whites, turkey bacon and sausage and other healthy options and I always tend to respect and favor those places most ;)

I got a simple sandwich of egg whites on a whole wheat bagel -

P8290012.JPG

I wasn’t feeling any meat today, but when I am, I add some turkey sausage or taylor ham.

On the side I continued to bring the early Fall with my dishes and candles :)

P8290013.JPG

P8290014.JPG

It was absolutely perfect! Filled me up but didn’t leave me feeling overly stuffed :D

It was such a nice brunch together filled with conversation and yummy eats!

Afterwards I dropped Mike off at the train station so he can finish up what will hopefully be his LAST baseball game of the season! Pray that the rain holds off for him!!

And on my way back to my apartment, I just couldn’t resist stopping into CVS for a couple little Fall treats :)

P8290017.JPG

Mmmmmm.

P8290021.JPG

Mountains of deliciousness.

I love to keep these guys in the fridge for after-dinner when I’m craving something a little sweet. Cold chocolate is pretty much the best thing in the world – am I wrong? ;)

I also picked up this little cutie:

P8290018.JPG

How adorable is this?! A little candle that looks and smells like an apple pie!

I just love little things like this…but I’m beginning to realize where all my money goes now…haha!

I’m off to finish the VERY LAST episode of Everwood! SO SAD :’(

Hope you’re all having wonderfully fun Saturdays guys!

See you all for dinner :)

Early Fall!

August 22, 2009 · 14 Comments

Guys, I have a serious problem. I stayed up until 12:15 am watching my Everwood dvds! I totally didn’t mean to do that! I was laying in my bed watching it on my laptop and the next time I looked up at the clock it was after midnight. I knew I was feeling a little groggy but boy-oh-boy! I never expected it to be THAT late. Haha. Oh well – better on a Friday night than a week night!

I ended up digging into another slice of banana nut bread + a glass vanilla soymilk around 10 because it had been over 4 hours since I’d last eaten due to my early dinner/dessert.

Despite my late bedtime, I was up and starting in on my day bright and early.

It’s muggy and rainy summer weather out there and I think it’s supposed to keep up all weekend long. Looks like I’ll have to fill my plate with indoor activities to stay busy

This hot and humid end of summer is filling me with anticipation for FALL. It’s my absolute FAVORITE season all around. The crisp weather, the apples, the sweaters, the leaves! Ah! I can’t wait!

Given my excitement , I decided to take action and bring it here a little early

P8220005.JPG

Um, can we all agree that my new leaf bowl is pretty much the best thing EVER?! I think we can

I poured myself a bowl of Spiced Pecan cereal -

P8220007.JPG

P8220006.JPG

Absolutely delicious and FULL of Fall flavors!

Made even better when I added a few good splashes of vanilla soymilk

P8220008.JPG

Alongside I added a rain-dropped peachy keen -

P8220009.JPG

This really should’ve been an apple now that I think about it…oh well! I didn’t even get to it because I was so stuffed from my cereal!

I continued the Fall theme with my coffee using a mug my sister Courtney got me -

P8220010.JPG

(Love this mug, thanks Court!)

P8220014.JPG

Bruce held down my work station for me while I whipped up breakfast -

P8220015.JPG

(Yes, that’s Everwood on the TV )

P8220016.JPG

P8220017.JPG

What a cutie. I missed this guy while I was away

Alright – off to watch MORE Everwood (I’m an addict, I know!) then hopefully do something a little more productive.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Probar Friday

August 21, 2009 · 22 Comments

Happy Friday guys!

I gobbled up my rescued Luna bar last night before bed. I guess that Time article was right – exercise really DOES make you more hungry!

I tried to resist yet another yogurt mess this morning but I just couldn’t! I’m out of Oikos after this so hopefully that will force me to mix it up a bit for you all :)

P8210011.JPG

Seriously though, if you haven’t tried this yet, you MUST! It’s so yummy and it really keeps me full for hours.

Today’s mix was a plain Oikos with a Cocoa Pistachio Probar -

P8210013.JPG

P8210010.JPG

P8210012.JPG

This baby’s packin’ 400 calories so it better keep me full!

This bar was absolutely delicious! I think this ranks #3 out of all the ones I’ve tried so far. It’s a tough call between this and Koka Moka but I think Koka Moka wins out by a hair!

Mike also tried this one and he really liked it…though that might have been because the only other one he tried was the SuperFood Slam which is a little intense.

I’m packing a peach to have mid-morning should my hunger crop up!

P8210009.JPG

And of course I had my cuppa Joe!

P8210015.JPG

P8210016.JPG

Mmm, can’t beat that foamed soymilk!

Yay for today being Friday and for getting out early!! See you all for lunch!

-

Today’s Excerpt:

P8210002.JPG

After yesterday’s HOT run I have to say I definitely agree with this one! I usually try to stick to yoga in my air conditioned apartment, or early morning/late night runs in the heat.

I miss the days of being home in CT for the summer when I could just use my pool everyday for exercise!

What about you guys? What’s your favorite way to beat the heat while still managing a summer workout?

Camera Cords Are Important…

August 20, 2009 · 8 Comments

…if you’re hoping to include photos in your blog!

I yie yie – could I be more of a space cadet sometimes!? Today I definitely couldn’t have.

First I wake up and start making breakfast slash taking pictures of my lunch and snacks (to no avail I’d come to realize later!) when a wobble, a bobble and a plop later, this happened!

P8200005.JPG

Yep. That’s my Chocolate Peppermint Stick Luna bar down there. It dropped right through the cracks of my fire escape and on to my new neighbor’s (who I haven’t even met yet)! I was already running late so I couldn’t worry about getting it – I just had to grab my coffee and run out the door!

As if that wasn’t spacey enough – I then got to work and completely bypassed my floor when the elevator stopped at it!

By the time I rode alllll the way up then alll the way back down to my floor, I was pretty much just cracking up at the whole situation. I think the people that got off on the top floor thought I was nuts! Haha.

But let me back up -

I woke up this morning feeling nice and refreshed. I hit “brew” on the coffee maker and whipped up another one of my famous yogurt messes with a hairy peach -

P8200011.JPG

Today’s mix was a vanilla Oikos with a German Chocolate Cake Larabar

P8200016.JPG

P8200018.JPG

Larabar outdid themselves with their new flavors! This one may even give Peanut Butter & Jelly a run for it’s money!

P8200007.JPG

I didn’t get to the peach this morning as I was pretty stuffed after the yogurt so I ate it this afternoon as a snack.

The morning FLEW by as usual – it was definitely a busy first day back! PLUS one of my co-workers who’s currently out on maternity leave brought in her adorable newborn! He was SO cute!

Around 12:30 my stomach was grumbling, so I broke for some eats -

I packed a turkey and ham sandwich with lettuce and mustard -

P8200003.JPG

And had an gala apple alongside -

P8200004.JPG

This lunch was good but definitely not filling enough so mid-afternoon I busted out some orange snacks -

A Peanut Butter Cookie Luna bar (my second choice as my first choice was currently lying on my neighbor’s fire escape )

P8200006.JPG

My morning peach -

P8200017.JPG

And a little while later when I still wasn’t feeling satisfied, a mineola orange -

P8200019.JPG

That did the trick in finally satiating me and I was able to finish up the work day with no problem.

When I got home, I wasn’t all that hungry given all my snacks so I popped on my AC and decided to knock out my run while I let my apartment cool down.

WHEW! It was H-O-T out there. I needed a very cold shower to cool down when I got home. But of course it was totally worth it and I was glad I went.

P8200020.JPG

PLUS I managed to rescue my Luna bar!!

P8200021.JPG

Hooray!! My neighbor was leaving right as I was coming so I quickly snuck down the fire escape and rescued it! (Hopefully she doesn’t read the blog or she’ll think I’m a psycho!! Haha).

After I was showered, my Luna bar was rescued and Everwood was playing, I started in on dinner

I threw together the most delicious salad! I kid you not, the entire time I was eating it I was thinking “this is so good. this is SO GOOD!”

P8200023.JPG

And it was so simple too! Just a little romaine, a hard-boiled egg and a veggie burger!

P8200024.JPG

Half-way through eating I actually jumped up and added a couple scoops of hummus. Oh my Lord in Heaven guys! SUCH the perfect addition :)

I paired it with a whole wheat lavish roll up and another gala apple

P8200026.JPG

P8200025.JPG

So yummy.

I’m off to spend some time with Mike and continue watching Everwood (hopefully he doesn’t make me turn it off!).

Let me know what you guys think of the pictures the new camera takes! I’ll have to play around with all the different settings to get them perfect, but I’m thinking this is a pretty good start!

Night everyone – I promise to be less forgetful tomorrow!!

A Very Dolly Day

August 16, 2009 · 14 Comments

Moooorning everyone! Er…afternoon I guess?

We decided on a bagel and coffee brunch today hence the later post.

I was glad to see that everyone thinks Julia is as adorable as I do :) Love that little doll.

Speaking of dolls – I came down this morning to Julia sitting on the couch watching toons with our American Girl dolls -

IMG_0556.jpg

IMG_0567.JPG

IMG_0568.JPG

Did any of you guys ever have these!? My sisters and I LOVED these dolls – we could play for hours with them! I think my parents were very happy when we got these dolls. Haha.

I had Kirsten, Shannon had Samantha, Courtney (my oldest sister) had Molly then Felicity and Josephina came along later and were shared by all. :)

Shan, Patrick and I headed out together around 11 to get our bagels and coffee.

I got a grande soy misto at Starbucks to start -

IMG_0563.jpg

then picked up a whole wheat bagel with two egg whites and a VitaminWater10 Essential at the bagel shop -

IMG_0575.JPG

IMG_0557.jpg

It’s a beautiful day out there so I’m off to go enjoy it!

The Baking Bug Continues!

August 15, 2009 · 6 Comments

Morning Guys!

It’s an overcast, gloomy day out there so far. Looks like we’re in for some rain!

I was up WAY earlier than I would’ve liked to be on a weekend, but oh well. I’d rather wake up naturally than forcing myself to go back to sleep and being groggy for the rest of the day!

When I came downstairs to the kitchen I saw that my adorable mom had laid out a special bread that she picked up for me at the store :)

She’s so cute I can barely take it. Thanks for always thinking of me mom! :D

Given that I already had one ingredient for breakfast, it made the decision of what to have much easier! I chose to make an egg white and ham sandwich (since I haven’t had my beloved egg whites in quite some time!) that I paired with some pineapple.

Quick, easy and satisfying…everything I look for in a meal :)

Clara made sure to be a look out for me as I took pictures -

What would I do without her!? Haha.

I enjoyed my breakfast quietly while sipping some coffee and reading my book :) So perfect!

I’m baking away once again in the kitchen and I’ll be sure to show off the goods as soon as they’re out of the oven! ;)

Hope you’re all having a relaxing Saturday morning!
-
Don’t forget you can watch the Healthy Living Summit LIVE today!! I’ve already got it streaming – so exciting!!
-

Today’s Excerpt:

Hmm – this is an interesting one! While I’d be more than happy to ADD spices and herbs to my diet for natural energy…I don’t think I could ever give up my “cup of java” :) What about you guys?
